Professional Biography

Our program involves research, teaching and outreach in several aspects of plant propagation and production. A major research focus is on specialty or emerging crop production. This includes both seed biology/technology and vegetative cutting propagation/production. Recent crops have included chia and hemp. We continue to emphasize ways to characterize and measure seed vigor using vision systems and spectral analysis. We also have a major emphasis on vegetative propagation that involves aspects of stock plant management (epigenetics) and foliar auxin application to cuttings.
